This lets you install wads to your EmuNAND and not your sysNAND so if it bricks EmuNAND, you can boot to sysNAND and fix EmuNAND. It's not 100%, but it's another layer of protection.

WebA chance to repair a Wii U is better than no chance at all. Because the NAND is uniquely encrypted, a brick without a backup is 100% a goner. I suspect that guy says there's no point because the main way to restore a Wii U NAND backup is with a JTAG programmer (as in, he's lazy), like what is required anyway for Xbox 360 hacking.
